AI x Creativity Hackathon: Engineering a Dream [Sydney]
Powered by Lucid States and the Sydney Knowledge Hub (USYD's startup incubator and research commercialisation hub).
Are you an engineer who wants to bridge logic and imagination? A storyteller who sees endless digital worlds filled with rich characters? A designer with an infinite imagination who wants to build the creative tool they wish they had?
AI is one of the most powerful tools humanity has ever built. It has…
Semantic vector-based search & embeddings
Multimodal representational learning
Novel recombination through generative modelling (e.g. diffusion models)
PhD level reasoning
Access to memory databases
… all the ingredients for creativity, so let’s build it!
RSVP to this event and register your team here.
Note 1: you can sign up as a solo participant, please still fill out the form above (we will find you a team).
Note 2: if you'd like to just come for the demo night don't fill out a team registration form above but still RSVP to the Luma event.
More details:
This is an in person event at the University of Sydney.
Choose 1/5 problem questions announced at the commencement of event (subject areas include: creativity as a subjective phenomena, the role of memory in creativity, UI/UX design to enhance creativity, statistical randomness (temperature) and hallucinations as a feature not a bug).
Judging criteria:
Originality (1–5): how unique and experimental is the concept?
Implementation (1–5): does the project function well and demonstrate advanced technical skill?
Usefulness (1–5): does it solve a real problem or show potential for meaningful impact?
Presentation (1–5): is the demo engaging and clearly explained? Is the prototype aesthetically, emotionally or intellectually striking?
Bonus: uses a non-LLM AI models as a core component of it's build (e.g. diffusion, GANs, NeRF, image-to-image, knowledge graphs).
First place prize = RunwayML annual subscription 🎉
6-9PM Sunday 17-Aug: pitches + winner announced
Groups of 2-4 (at least 50% must be technical).
High quality judges (e.g. Jessy Wu from Encour, AFR)
Supported by Sydney's best (Build Club, Next Chapter, USYD).
More about Lucid States:
Lucid States is an applied research startup exploring what it would take to build creative artificial genius and get it into the hands of billions of people.
Practically speaking, this looks like making interesting and new connections between concepts (see demo here).
