Talk 1: "From Cluster Chaos to Calm: The S3 & Delta Table Rescue Mission"
Managing a sprawling data lake can lead to chaos: unreliable data availability, slow refreshes, and skyrocketing costs. This presentation details a successful migration from a traditional Parquet-based data lake to Delta tables on Amazon S3. We'll delve into the challenges faced - data inconsistencies, high operational costs, and slow querying - and explore how leveraging Delta Lake's unique capabilities (ACID transactions and efficient data skipping) led to significant improvements in data timeliness, availability, and cost optimization.

About Jian Shen Yap
Jian Shen began his career as a data scientist, eventually gravitating towards software engineering within the data and ML space. Currently, he is at BentoML, contributing to the development of both open-source and enterprise software for ML and AI model serving.

This process is common when events are hosted in the building. We will be giving the building security this information and they will pre-register you so that on the event day.

🚝 Public Transport: Public transport: It's about an 8-minute walk from Dang Wangi LRT and a 10-minute walk from Masjid Jamek LRT

Flat rate after 6PM at the nearby buildings as well as in AIA Menara Capsquare
Parking facilities are available for both cars & motorbikes in the basement of Menara AIA Cap Square building. Motorbike parking is located at the loading bay with RM2 parking fees per entry whereas the car parking rate starts at RM4/hour.
Other parking options are as follows:
Wilayah Complex – RM7/8 per entry
Plaza City One – RM8/entry
Jakel Valet Parking – RM10/day
Jakel Open Parking - RM8.50/entry
Open cashless parking opposite of police station. Rate is around RM 8.8 per day.

🤲🏽 Prayer areas
There is a Surau on the same level as the meetup hall (Level 20). The Surau is separated for females and males and can fit 5 people each.
There is another Surau at level 25 which can accommodate 20 people.
🧭 Logistics Upon Arrival: Upon arriving to Menara AIA Cap Square, head towards security desk in the lobby and sign your name from the list provided, you will need to present your NRIC/Passport to the security as they will cross reference your details to what is on the list.
🍕 Food: TBA
🪑 Seating: We are setting up seating for 150 people. If more people attend, we unfortunately need to made do with standing arrangements.
🤚🏽 Assistance During the Meetup: If you have any issues or questions, look for hosts and volunteers wearing black t-shirts with purple lanyards.
