Hello again creative coders and enthusiasts!
Thank you to everyone that showed up for the social in the park last month. We had a great time! As we were just about lucky enough to stay dry then, this month we're heading back indoors. And not just anywhere!
We're very happy and excited to announce that we're welcomed at A-Lab for our August meetup. A-Lab is situated just across the water from Central Station and with their tagline "Where Curious Works" we just had to get in touch. Turns out they're amazing people doing cool stuff and they're happy to have us. We are very grateful for this budding partnership and look forward to grow and nurture it as we go.
But enough about logistics, as we've got more to be excited about! For August we've got another great speaker lined up for you all!
On August 21st Wimer Hazenberg aka Monokai will be joining us at A-Lab for a talk titled "Algorithms & Mistakes".
If you've been anywhere near a code editor in last 20 years, you most probably saw the arguably coolest color scheme 'Monokai' pass by, which was created by Wimer back in 2006. Since then he's built awwwardwinning sites, created stunning 'fog-photography' and most recently has been focusing on Algorithmic Art. Which is also the focus of his talk.

At the core of algorithmic art lies the randomizer. Over-regulate it, and the results become predictable. Let it run free, and chaos takes over. This talk explores how embracing unexpected outcomes can lead to surprising and inspiring creative discoveries.
After the talk, we'll be opening up the floor for to admire the results of our very first Space Invaders themed coding challenge. Make sure to enter your entry before August 18th.

SAIL 2025 is on during our next meetup, which means there's a lot of people and boats around Central Station. According to the GVB all ferry's to get to A-Lab will be operational, though there might be extra waiting time. Please make sure to account for this as good as possible. Thank you!
