​About the speakers

​Thais Ramos is a lawyer by background, turned GRC professional by choice. She holds a master’s degree in law (LL.M.) from Cornell University and is an ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA®) and an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). She has extensive experience in privacy, risk management, and compliance, having led the development of industry-leading programs in multinational corporations. Currently, she is the Compliance Manager at the Privacy & Information Security Management unit at the University of British Columbia (UBC). In addition to her professional roles, Thais is a dedicated advocate for privacy, information security, inclusion, and diversity, working to foster positive change within corporate cultures. She has been consistently active in her professional associations, having served as a KnowledgeNet Chapter Chair and a member of Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board at IAPP. She is currently the Associate Director of ISACA’s SheLeadsTech/OneInTech, helping to empower women in the industry.

​Femi Ogungi is a seasoned Information Security Consultant, passionate about fortifying digital landscapes and sharing cybersecurity insights. With a wealth of experience as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information System Manager (CISM), I've been on the front lines of developing and implementing robust technology and information security strategies for over 12 years. I am particularly interested in Identity & Access Management, and an avid evangelist of a Zero-trust architecture as the way to help reduce and mitigate against identity threats. I also have experience, expertse and interests in GRC and Privacy. I also host a cybersecurity-focused podcast and YouTube channel, leveraging my experience to not only secure information but also to educate and empower a global audience. Dive into the world of cybersecurity with me on my podcast - The CyberSec Migrant, where I discuss real-world strategies to stay ahead of cyber threats. On my YouTube channel, I break down complex concepts into digestible insights, offering a visual journey into the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity. I also serve as an industry mentor with several organizations, including ISACA Vancouver, where I'm dedicated to sharing insights, fostering growth, and helping individuals navigate the dynamic landscape of information and cybersecurity.
