Turn Your Uni Break into Startup Traction: A Workshop for Ambitious Founders
Facebook and Microsoft were started during their winter uni breaks – what are you doing with yours? If you're an ambitious founder who has recently begun building a startup, or you're even just thinking about an idea, join us for a night to set you up for success over the holidays.
NextGen Ventures and Boab AI are teaming up to bring you a sharp 90-minute session that skips the fluff and hits the parts of building that actually matter: talking to users, setting goals, and building fast.
We’ll kick off with a fireside chat with Tom van der Linden, founder of Modus AI, a rapidly growing AI startup with over 25,000 users. He’s still a student, going through the Melbourne Accelerator Program, and he’s figured out how to turn early experiments into real traction.
Then we’ll move into small founder breakout groups to work on activities focused on the traits the best young founders have - customer obsession, ambition, and speed:
Customer experiments – pressure-test your riskiest assumptions
Interview tactics – sharpen your questions to get real insights from customers
Moving with speed – set real goals, then find ways to cut your timeline in half
This is not a lecture. You’ll be talking, building, learning, and getting challenged by other ambitious founders like you. There are only 40 spots available, and we usually sell out, get in quick!
🫴 If you think you’re too busy with exams, come anyway, don’t spend your holidays regretting while others are building.
Generation AI
Thanks to Boab AI, you can win $1000 just by showing up and applying what you learn. They’re running Generation AI, an AI pre-accelerator, and if you complete the program after attending this event, you're in the running. Apps close on the 25th.
NextGen Ventures
After successfully raising >$2m for our first fund, NextGen Ventures is actively investing in young, ambitious founders — often as the first cheque in. If you're building something bold (no matter how early), fill out this short form to get on our radar — we typically invest around ~$70K. We've made several investments already, including Fluency, maybe you're next.
