About Event

Deep Talks

​Deep Talks is our monthly event showcasing two short talks by Melbourne-based science-led entrepreneurs.

​The event starts at 6:00 pm with pizza, drinks and networking. The presentations 6:30 pm. The talks are about 15-20 mins each with another 10 mins for Q&A. We usually wrap up between 7:30-8:00 pm.

Dr Kendra Vant

Dr Kendra is a product & tech exec with experience across the industry (Xero, SEEK, Telstra, Deloitte, Commonwealth Bank) and research (MIT, Los Alamos National Laboratory). She is an industry leader in driving the development of data and AI products that change people’s lives for the better.

With a strong record of talent attraction and retention in competitive markets, and significant experience in hybrid team management across cultures and time zones, she builds, nurtures, and inspires product and engineering teams, developing AI products with a correspondingly strong patent portfolio, that delight customers and drive strong EBITDA growth.

Kendra is deeply committed to creating environments of continual learning and development for her teams and increasing AI and data literacy for the general public. She provides an expert voice to investors, analysts, media, and founders on AI product strategy, ethical AI, and current and emerging market and regulatory landscape. Kendra advises a number of Australian and New Zealand startups and is an invited member of the Australian Federal Government’s National Data Advisory Council and CSIRO’s National AI Centre Industry Forum.

KB Buzza

Digging deeper into digital sustainability, and how tech teams can achieve better outcomes for the planet.

KB (Katherine) Buzza’s career began in marketing before embarking on a journey to discover how business can drive positive environmental and social change. Having worked across sectors, she has maintained a passion for sharing knowledge. Now as a product manager for Climate Zero, she wants to keep expanding the conversation about sustainability in tech beyond data centres and load times. 

As digital practitioners, we transform code into masterpieces and solve problems with our products. We also have a responsibility to understand our impact on the environment, with the internet projected to contribute 13% of the world’s carbon emissions by 2030.

If you work in product, communications, or computer engineering, this discussion aims to help you align your career in tech with the decarbonised future we can play a role in creating.
