About Event

Join us for Strange Sessions (think Tiny Desk concerts meets TED), where visionary thinkers and scientists explore groundbreaking ideas shaping our future.

In this edition, former NASA aerospace engineer Alex Kling discusses how experiments like harvesting atmospheric energy for airborne Mars exploration and deploying nano-particles to trap heat could help make Mars more livable.

While full planetary environmental enhancement for Mars would span multiple centuries, the right technology could unlock radical possibilities. Discover how these bold ideas could change how we think about life on Earth and beyond.

Strange Sessions is proudly supported by Goodwin.

Speaker Bio

Alex Kling is an aerospace engineer specializing in Martian atmospheric and flight dynamics. He spent 12 years at NASA Ames Research Center where he was involved in Martian environment modeling and in the development of atmospheric decelerators and Martian gliders. He recently joined the Mars Terraforming research efforts at Astera Institute,a nonprofit research institute that empowers visionary, high-leverage science and technology projects based in Emeryville, CA.
