Worldcoin x FWB: The Palimpsest of Personhood

Worldcoin（ワールドコイン）、Friends With Benefits（フレンズ・ウィズ・ベネフィッツ）、PUSH（プッシュ）共催の展示会「人類を記録するパリンプセスト - The Palimpsest of Personhood」 が2024年7月6日（土）および7日（日）に原宿のTHE PLUGにて開催されます。 

​人類の歴史上、世界のあらゆる社会や文化の中で問われてきた「人間であるとは何か？」という問い。この展示会ではそれを深く掘り下げ、考察していきます。

​タイトルにあるパリンプセストとは、すでに書かれているものの上から新しいものを重ねて書いていく書物のことで、情報が層となり更新されていくという特徴があります。私たち人間も意見を述べたり、あるいはAIや人間性などのトピックをあらゆる方向から追求するたびに集団としての対話を繰り返し、アップデートしてきました。人類史の「パリンプセスト」もまた、層になり重なり合い変容しているのです。

​展示内容にはワールドコインのホワイトペーパーを元に作られたアート作品を始め、エッセイ、そして新規ユーザー登録の際に使用される「オーブ」型スキャナーなどが含まれます。また会場で新規登録をした方には展示会限定のアートプリントが特典として提供されます。

“The Palimpsest of Personhood” is a collaborative exhibition between Worldcoin, Friends With Benefits and PUSH, which will be held at The Plug, Harajuku, on July 6th and 7th, 2024. 

​The exhibition explores the question: “What does it mean to be human?” – a question that societies around the world have explored consistently throughout history. Each time we voice our opinions, or creatively interrogate topics like AI and personhood, we update the collective discourse, hence, the “palimpsest”: an object, which contains layered, contested, overlapping and mutating meanings. 

​The exhibition will feature artwork from the Worldcoin white paper, critical essays, and the “Orb”-shaped scanners that are used to register new users on Worldcoin. There will also be exclusive, limited-edition art prints available for visitors who register at the event.
