BCGC Green Chemistry Seminar Series: Earth Day Panel

​Join us for the first of our Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry Seminar Series!

​This seminar will feature a panel that includes Dr. Elliot Rossomme (Apple), Dr. Kim Hazard (California Department of Toxic Substances Control), and Dr. Colleen McMahan (USDA).

​The panel will discuss the evolution of a safer alternative to 6-PPD, an antiozonant found in tires whose oxidation product, 6-PPD quinone, is highly toxic to Coho salmon, which are a culturally, ecologically, and economically significant species. In particular, the panel will discuss how a unique collaboration among academic, government, and industry stakeholders was able to identify a solution that has led to a predicted product reformulation.
