​In a world where platforms shape expression and stories are flattened into content —

​what does it mean to write against the grain?

​Zines and independent writing have long served as tools of resistance: to challenge erasure, speak from the margins, and make space for softness as protest.

​As we close International Zine Month, we invite writers, readers, and makers to join us in exploring how zines can be both quiet and radical, tender and unyielding.

​

​This evening also marks the first soft opening of Now Place’s new home — a space built for stories, publishing, and collective creative care. Come celebrate, connect, and dream with us.

• ​🎙️ “Resistance as Everyday Practice” panel with zine artists Seven & Five Ghosts

• ​🪧 Topics include:
  → Zines as protest, memory, and survival
  → Writing across language, identity, and cultural displacement
  → Can slowness and care be radical?

• ​📣 Open Q&A + audience reflection prompt: “What does resistance mean to you?”
