About Event

Bee Abled has been invited to be part of the Abilities in Motion “2024 Adapted Sports Day” program though the Sports Authority Foundation focused on providing sports and educational programming for youth and adults with disabilities. This is a FREE event and lunch will be provided! It will take place next Saturday, October 12th from 8:30AM to 3PM at the Weekley Family YMCA, 7101 Stella Link Blvd Houston, TX 77025. Athletes check in as at 8:30AM. There will be NO Saturday workout at Memorial Park instead Bee Abled will be at this event.

This event is hosted by the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority in partnership with TIRR Memorial Hermann. Youth and adults with disabilities from all over the Houston area are welcome to participate in various sports coached by Paralympian athletes.

Featured Sports & Activities:

• Introductory Adapted Recumbent Cycling - Open to experienced Adults and Beginners

• Youth Wheelchair Basketball Exhibition Game featuring TIRR Memorial Hermann Hotwheels vs Austin

• Pickleball - Introduction to Sitting and Ambulatory Inclusive Pickleball (Instructed by Paralympians Gina McWilliams (Silver and Bronze Medalist) and Pam Fontaine (Bronze Medalist) - (Youth and Adults)

• Corn Hole- Beginner Skills (Instructed by Paralympian Jermell Pennie)

Please wear your Bee Abled shirt and weather-appropriate athletic attire. Wheelchair users are encouraged to bring their own chair, if possible. All athletes will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to participation. For athletes under the age of 18, a parent signature will be required for participation during athlete check-in the morning of the event.
