About Event

Did you know that Spanish Banks Creek used to be salmon-bearing prior to urban development? Then there were parking lots and roads and many blockages preventing the fish from spawning and for a long time there was no salmon anymore.

But then in 1999 a community-inspired project restored fish access and rehabilitated the creek - and the salmon returned!

There are many examples of how city development is interfering with nature, how humans try to restore nature, but also about how erosion and changes in climate impact city development. Spanish Banks has many of those examples and we want to learn more about them!

Join us for an educational walk along Spanish Banks and discover how urban development and nature cohabit.

  • We meet at Spanish Banks West Concession at 6:30pm

  • Bring some water and comfortable shoes (that you don't mind getting sandy)

  • The walk will be about 1.5h

  • If you want to stick around afterwards, you'll probably be rewarded with a beautiful sunset
