About Event

Join us for a rare conversation with Rob Skillington, co-founder and CTO of Chronosphere, a unicorn startup valued at US$1.6bn. Rob started at the University of Melbourne, before heading to the US to work at Microsoft and following that at Uber through their hypergrowth and IPO where he built the open source time series database M3DB. He then went on to co-found Chronosphere, a company now shaping the future of cloud-native observability and used by some of the biggest companies in tech.

Whether you're deep in AI, exploring your first startup idea, or just want to hear the real story of how an Aussie built a billion-dollar company in two and a half years — this is your invitation to learn, connect, and be inspired.

What to expect:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at building a unicorn from the ground up

  • Lessons from working at Microsoft and Uber, startup scaling and being in Silicon Valley

  • Insights into what the world’s top engineering teams look for in talent

  • Open Q&A with Rob

  • A chance to connect with other ambitious students interested in tech, AI, and startups

Bonus: Rob is actively looking for local part-time AI specialists and AI generalists for Chronosphere and is also happy to advise on applying for US roles.

Limited spots.

Hosted by: NextGen Ventures, University of Melbourne, and GXE.
