About Event

Join the Seattle Cooperator Meet-up as we welcome Alex Porteshawver, Adam Powers and Amy Bettle to explore how communities can collaboratively start, invest in, and sustainably manage cooperative solar gardens. This event conversation will engage participants with the practical insights, strategies, and models for building community-owned renewable energy solutions. Join us to network, learn, and help catalyze a cooperative solar future! Free food will be provided. We highly encourage to take public transit to the venue!

Alex Porteshawver: is a Senior Energy Program Manager at Seattle City Light. She designs and implements customer-facing affordability, renewable energy, electrification, demand response, and efficiency programs.

Adam Powers: is a solar developer and main organizer behind the Burien Solar Punk Festival. He is now developing "Circular Economy Cooperative," incorporating community ownership of solar and land.

Amy Bettle: is Director at Restaurant 2 Garden, a hyperlocal composter in Seattle's Chinatown International District. She was Board Chair of the People's Solar Energy Fund, a member-based fund that invests into community-owned solar initiatives

Event sponsored by Communities of Opportunity (COO) Learning Community in partnership with the Seattle Cooperator Meet-up as part of our ongoing cooperative learning series, exploring regional cooperative ecosystem, and models of cooperative housing, worker-owned enterprises, and cooperative infrastructure. These events aim to share learnings, build connections, and engage King County area community groups with the strategies, knowledge, resources and inspiration for their own community ownership projects.
