Seattle City Council Candidate Forum

​Seattle Climate Coalition presents a Seattle City Council Candidate Forum on Friday, July 12.  

​Three of the four candidates for Seattle City Council Position 8 (Citywide) will be in attendance: Alexis Mercedes Rinck, Saunatina Sanchez, and Tariq Yusuf. The incumbent, Tanya Woo, has not yet responded to the invitation.

The forum will be moderated by Ry Armstrong. Doors open at 5pm at the Northwest Film Forum with a climate resource fair, and the forum starts at 5:30pm.

​​The candidate forum is taking place during an exciting week for climate with the inaugural Bloomberg Green Festival, and locally produced PNW Climate Week. Seattle Climate Coalition has invited candidates running for Seattle City Council to come in, sit down, and answer questions about their stances on environmental issues and policies that affect our city’s-built environment and goals to reduce carbon emissions by 2050 to zero. 

​​As Seattle is emerging from the pandemic, the Seattle Climate Coalition believes that this is valuable to all of us because it (1) informs voters, (2) advances the visibility of environmental issues during election season, and (3) builds ties between the residents of Seattle and organizations that care about climate policies, and our local political leaders.

​​The forum has limited seating and is first come first serve. We will have a virtual component and share the link.

​​Seattle Climate Coalition is an emerging team including the Seattle / King County chapters of People for Climate Action, Citizens Climate Lobby, and Climate Reality. Seattle Climate Coalition is eager to include others that would like to endorse the event or take part in supporting future climate candidate forums.
