Film Producing 101: Creativity Meets Logistics [Information session with filmmakers]
We're launching a film production course called Film Producing 101. This session provides you details about the upcoming (free) course, which explores the essential intersection of creativity and logistics.
Join us for a candid conversation with two filmmakers (course faculty):
Sean Patrick Burke is a Sundance Award-winning film and television producer with over 15 years of professional experience.
Syed K. Jamal is a filmmaker, social entrepreneur, and board member of Tasveer.org, the only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival in the world.
Film Producing 101 will cover topics such as:
• Finding your idea
• Writing a script
• Importance of genre
• Set etiquette & structure
• Look books/pitch decks
• Finance plans
• Schedules & budgets
• Pre-production
• Principal photography
• Post-production
• Sales, distribution, and festivals
And more!
The information session provides detailed insights into these topics, the methodology, and key timelines. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn about the film industry and explore various career pathways in film and the creative economy.
This initiative is part of a nonprofit project, Grit City Studio, which aims to boost Tacoma’s creative economy by establishing it as a film hub for economic development and cultural enrichment.
We look forward to seeing you on April 30th.
Note: We’ll host another information session on Friday, May 2nd, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the same venue. If that day works better for you, please email Syed at syed@gobranta.com.
The event is free to attend, but pre-registration is required as seats are limited.
Thank you.
Syed and Sean
