Mariam Ayyoob is a Research & Strategic Design lead at Koru, where she helps discover, build, and invest in new ventures through a human-centered design lens. With over 10 years of experience in digital innovation and customer experience, Mariam brings deep expertise in driving strategic transformation across industries including telecommunications, healthcare, and financial services. Her background spans both in-house and consulting roles, where she has led complex initiatives in product, operations, and marketing. Passionate about creating meaningful customer experiences and engaging cross-functional teams, Mariam specializes in service design, product strategy, and mixed-method research to uncover insights and define impactful solutions.
Phil Vlach, is the Founder of AgeTech Labs, an independent advisory firm helping innovators and senior living operators bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world care. He also leads AgeTech Toronto, a community advancing aging innovation, and heads technology at Schlegel Villages, one of Canada’s leading senior living organizations. Phil’s work focuses on scalable solutions that improve care delivery, empower frontline staff, and enhance resident experience. He brings a systems-thinking approach to aging and care, helping the sector adopt technologies that are both meaningful and practical.
Bruce B. Simpson is a Partner & Co-Founder at AgeTech Capital. Bruce B. Simpson is a seasoned business leader and social impact investor, co-founding AgeTech Capital- a purpose-driven venture firm focused on technologies that support healthier, wealthier, and more fulfilling aging . With over three decades at McKinsey- including senior leadership roles in global operations, sustainability, and innovation incubation- he combines deep strategic insight with entrepreneurial vision . As a Partner at AgeTech Capital, he leads investments in Series A+ startups delivering impactful solutions across health, wealth, and independent living for older adults. Bruce also serves as a senior advisor and mentor to startups, sharing expertise in ESG strategy, ecosystem building, and scaling innovation. His rich experience makes him an invaluable guide for founders addressing aging and social-impact challenges.
Marijana Zubrinic, is the Founder, COO & Chief Nursing Officer at HALO Telemonitoring. She is a nurse practitioner and healthcare innovator with over 18 years of clinical experience, including thoracic and critical care at Toronto General Hospital and UHN . She co-founded HALO Telemonitoring to solve the challenge of round-the-clock patient monitoring, developing a human-attended live video system that reduces falls, eases nurse workload, and enhances patient safety in hospitals and long-term care facilities . As COO and Chief Nursing Officer, she oversees clinical strategy and operations, leveraging her deep frontline insights to scale HALO across Canada’s healthcare system. Marijana is a thoughtful leader and advocate for health-tech innovation, sharing her expertise on safety, efficiency, and patient-centered design. She’s driven to mentor teams tackling real-world problems in healthcare delivery and monitoring technologies.
Daniel Clarke is the Founder & CEO, Elderado. He founded Elderado after his grandmother’s hospitalization highlighted how overwhelming and opaque elder care can be. Motivated to bring clarity to a painful experience, he built Elderado into a comprehensive, searchable platform listing every senior care home in Ontario (soon cross-Canada) with filters and data to help families quickly find the right fit. Daniel combines personal empathy, user-focused product strategy, and deep operational grit to tackle a critical need in elder care navigation. He’s passionate about mentoring founders who are solving real-world problems, sharing his lessons in turning personal pain into purpose-driven startups.
