PNW Climate Week Facility Tour: Iridian & Polaris Battery Labs

Join Climate Curious and the PNW Battery Collaborative for a special site visit to Iridian & Polaris Battery Labs. Shelly Whitlock, CEO at Iridian, will walk participants through the labs and showcase the next generation of lithium-ion development technology. This is a rare opportunity to see cutting-edge science at work.
This event is open to everyone, including those with deep expertise in batteries to those who are simply interested in learning more about how the PNW is leading the way in advancing battery tech.
Logistics:
Reservations are required and head count will be strictly limited. Guests must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Safety glasses will be provided on-site.

Run of Show:
After allowing for time to check-in and sign waivers, the tour will begin with a group presentation led by Shelly. This presentation will give a high level overview of Polaris and an orientation into the world of battery prototyping and R&D of next generation technologies. Afterwards, attendees will split into groups of around five to be led on a tour of the lab. Attendees will see:
Material upgrading and getting materials ready for batteries
The slurry mixing & coating process to make battery electrodes
How coin cells are made
How pouch cells are made
How the lab tests 1st prototypes in the lab
A glimpse into how the lab deals with non-traditional chemistries & cells (silicon, solid state, lithium sulfur, etc)
