Warp & Weft: Closet Recycle
Warp & Weft is a beginner weaving workshop. Event description here. Price includes one followup Open Hour Day pass within 7 days of the workshop to complete your pieces. Loom must remain at Drawing Room.
In this edition of Warp & Weft, we're weaving clothes that no longer serve us into a personalized wall hanging!
Make a wall hanging that weaves together your memories by using old unwanted garments! We’ll begin by learning how texture and color uniquely work when weaving by looking at example weavings to learn what’s possible. We’ll then get acquainted with the looms while setting them up for your wall hanging. From there, we’ll take your 2-3 unwanted garments that you’ll bring in, each with a different colors and/or textures, and cut them up, transforming them into “yarn”. We’ll then guide you through weaving techniques to recycle your old garments into a beautiful wall hanging with a story.
Weaving is a repetitive process that allows for reflection. Arrive at this workshop with a couple unwanted garments and share memories connected to them amongst friends.
